Turn of Music

So, I've noticed this a lot lately, about how music themes have seemed to take a turn. It seems in almost every genre the message that is trying to be passed is taking a shift, even if it's only slightly in some. Music has the power to effect people in ways that are incredible and unbelievable. Music is an aspect where anything can be spoken of. Topics like women, love, fear, hate, God, sex, and other subjects that may seem too "taboo" in normal conversation are not only accepted through music, but applauded.
And in the music that seems to be coming out nowadays, I feel like people are looking for something more. For example, I have not heard as many "happy" songs in the last few years come out. A while ago, songs that were all about being happily in love and dancing around and loving life seemed to be dominant. Now music is really turning.
Worship music, in many cases, has taken its spin from telling about how much the person loves God and how much God loves them, to, in many cases, a plea for how much they NEED God.
And that's my main point. Music has taken its turn because in our war torn, corrupt, wicked world where many people's jobs are being lost and the economy is not doing so well, people are not feeling that "happy" song in their hearts all the time.
They need a song to be a Hero. Something to look up to; relate to.
The songs that most people are coming out with right now are more about longing. Needing. They seem to be full of hope, but also of fear and of an almost desperation. Right now the world needs happines. Heck, the world needs lots of things.
But people need a hero. But heroes are too human. And the ones that seem to be "above us" are too unrelatable.
Music is becoming the hope. The relatable source.
The Hero.
