So...an eight year old boy has been suspended from school in Massachusetts. He was asked by his teacher to draw a picture of something that reminded him of Christmas.
Guess what he drew. Come on...guess!
He drew a picture of Jesus dying on the cross. Now...right there that obviously deserves a spanking, right? I mean...how dare a young boy in a country that was developed and founded on freedom of religion not only draw something religious, but...how could anyone in their right mind associate CHRISTmas with CHRIST? Seriously. This boy needs counseling.
And that's exactly what the teacher did. The boy is now required to take a psychological evaluation for drawing a picture of Jesus on the cross because it was too violent!
I hope that frustrates a lot of other people out there. I mean...violent? Jesus Christ is going to be associated with Christmas, so the teacher should have expected that. Also, He came to show us how to live, and to die for us, so that we can gain forgiveness and return to live with Him someday. Key phrase: came to DIE. So yes...death is violent. Christ did die in a violent manner. But Christ IS associated with Christmas. Christ IS Christmas. And if you need counseling and a psychological evaluation for believing such, then I better sign up next, because I'm thinking like an eight year old boy.
And what holiday isn't violent, or associated in some way, in all seriousness? Holidays like Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, July 4th and many others are created to celebrate a freedom or moment of relief from oppression. From violence. Without it, there would be nothing to celebrate. To me, the most violent holiday is Arbor Day, cuz trees can fall on people. And that's violent. Plus, when we all write our yearly Arbor Day cards and send them out to our friends and family, we are actually using the corpses of the thing we are celebrating that day. So...yeah, I can understanding having to go to counseling for drawing a picture of a tree on Arbor Day...but I honestly think that any depiction of Christ and Christmas should be acceptable, because they are all important. Especially the one that the kid drew.
Or maybe I just need a psychological evaluation myself.
